What is it? Age Health and Happiness is a healthy living programme specifically designed for those who work with older people. The training for trainers programme takes place over two and half days, approximately a week apart.
Who can apply? If you work with older people and would like to receive training to increase your knowledge and skills in a range of topic areas, this could be the course for you! It will enable you to deliver presentations to your groups. It is accredited by the Open College Network, level 2, 3 credits. Course content
What is Health? Strong Healthy Bones – information on how to keep your bones strong and prevent falls
Looking Good, Feeling Good – promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in later life Keeping fit and healthy – the benefits of physical activity and the opportunities and options available to older people.
Healthy Ageing –information on how to age well
Fitter Feet – how to keep feet healthy and pain-free
Food for Thought – healthy eating and good nutrition
Who delivers the training? The training will be delivered by a range of health professionals including a podiatrist, dietician and GP.
What do I have to do?
1. First of all register for the course by completing the application form this includes the dates for the training. You may need management approval for this. Please remember you must be able to commit to all three days to receive your accreditation. A confirmation letter will be sent to you if you secured a place. You will also receive a map and directions for Antrim Enterprise Agency.
2. On day one of the training you will receive a portfolio or workbook which must be completed and handed on day 3 of the training.
3. On day three you will also be required to complete a short presentation based on any of the health topics you have been taught.
Venue Antrim Enterprise Agency, 58 Greystone Road, Antrim, BT41 1JZ Cost – funding has been secured to cover the costs of the training for those who work in the Northern area. However failure to attend the three days will incur a cost of £100 to your organisation.
