Men’s Health Champion Training – We’re back!

AUTUMN DATES FOR Men’s Health Champion Training:

Hope you had a good summer. Our popular Men’s Health Champions training programme is back for 2022-23.

The first open course is Tuesday 18 October & Thursday 20 October – both sessions run from 10-12 in the morning.

Almost anyone can train to be a Men’s Health Champion. They are often members of a group, club, workplace, company or other organisation who watch out for their colleagues and support men to have healthier conversations about their health.

There will be other open courses later in the year. Or you can book your own course for your organisation or workplace at a time to suit you (up to 10 participants).

Support men on their health journey. Train to be a Men’s Health Champion.

What does the course offer?

  • Men’s Health Champions are a tried and tested way to improve health in a community and can break down the barriers that often exist in health care provision. The training was developed as part of the Interreg 2 Seas Step By Step project in Hampshire by Peter Baker and Jim Pollard.

Who is the course for?

  • Men who want to support other men to engage with their health
  • Local areas, workplaces, commissioners and providers and anyone who wants to learn about the course and empower men to do this

What are the outcomes?

You’ll learn:

  • the basics of men’s health;
  • the role of a Men’s Health Champion;
  • how to work with men to change health behaviours;
  • how to work with men during the Covid-19 crisis;
  • how to signpost them for more information.

You’ll also have a lot of fun and get a copy of our Men’s Health Champions manual and our latest Man Manual full of further information.

How much does it cost?

Can anyone be a Men’s Health Champion?

Pretty much. Men’s Health Champions are empathetic, good listeners, willing to talk about health and other difficult issues and to be supportive without being directive. You don’t need to be a health expert.
