Targeted Life skills service is funded by the Public Health Agency, is open to young people aged 11-13, 14-15 and 16-21 who may be deemed at risk of misusing alcohol and other substances or who are likely to take part in risk taking behaviours. This programme has evolved through extensive research which endorses the likelihood of a young person engaging in risk taking behaviour and/or substance misuse, is reduced significantly if they have been educated in a recognised, comprehensive Life Skills programme.
This innovative programme will be delivered through group work, with the young people engaging in age appropriate, experiential learning that enables participants over the course of the program to examine such aspects as positive mental health, personal resilience, risk taking behaviour, and decision making, to name but a few. The programme encompasses a therapeutic and educational aspect and can also be tailored to meet the particular needs of their client group. Please see attached for further details.
