My Experience of Using Equipment to Live Better with a Disability

A regional project is underway to understand the lived experiences of people who use Trust provided Assistive Technology and Equipment Services (ATE) across HSC in Northern Ireland.

This includes items that make daily life easier, such as:

Wheelchairs Electronic assistive technology
Hospital beds Community equipment
Minor home adaptations Homelifts

Following a regional review carried out by the Department of Health in 2024, a number of opportunities were identified to enhance the experience of those who rely on equipment to support daily living. In response, the Regional ATE Oversight Board commissioned the 10,000 MORE Voices initiative to gather first‑hand stories from service users, families and carers.

The title for this project is: “My Experience of Using Equipment to Live Better with a Disability.” To support the project, the Health Minister provided a short messagewhich you can view here; https://vimeo.com/1167288221

We would be grateful for your support in helping to raise awareness across your service user networks. We have posters and flyers available and if you would like me to send some to you to display in your service areas, please get in touch.
